We’re Oscar Mike!


I’ve been on a Nomad sectorial kick lately and have been meaning to get more into Mobile Brigada, but it wasn’t until we started discussing it on the forums that I made it a priority. Playing with a bunch of Mobile Brigada tends to pull you into 10 order lists (not that it’s a must it just feels more natural) so that’s what I’ll be trying for the next few weeks of gaming. Adam was kind enough to wait for me to show up at the LGS to get a game in, so we were able to practice some more for his upcoming tournament (which I sadly will be unable to attend).

It was either Supplies or Safe Area at 300, and Adam warned me that “unless I wanted to play against artillery” we should play Supplies, so Supplies it was! There was interest from the forum to try out a Brigada Trio + Massacre Haris, so that’s what I brought. My list definitely wasn’t optimized for Supplies, especially with Adam’s likely move of taking max AVA of Foxtrots, but I was up for a challenge!

I had to deploy first, so I put the Brigada link on the left, backed up by an obvious Intruder HMG (which was my Intruder Lt). On the right went the Massacre Haris, my actual Intruder HMG, and Lupe. I tried to confuse Adam with the two obvious Intruders, but I don’t think he really cared.

Adam set up a Grunt link team with two snipers exposed, two Maverick LRLs one per side, and a chain rifle Desperado on the left. The Devil Dog was on the right, with the Marauder Haris on the left in the catwalks. The HRL and Haris were on the actual catwalks and Paramedic below to pick up the box.I counter-deployed the Marauder Haris with my Bandit out of reserve, and Adam drops a Devil Dog on my left.

Turn 1

Top of Turn 1 – Corregidor

I chuck some smoke onto the stairs of the Comache barracks for the Intruder HMG with my Jaguar Haris. I coordinate an order between him, the other Intruder, and Lupe to shuffle them up the board. My Intruder Lt is pinned by a Grunt sniper, sadly, so I don’t actually have the capability to get him anywhere without taking a free discover. I spend another order getting my Intruder HMG up the stairs, and then start shooting stuff. I take out a Grunt Sniper and a Grunt Rifle. I try for the second sniper, but lose the F2F and pass ARM, going prone. Mrrgh. I advance the Bandit forward to get within 8″ of the Marauder Haris.

She get discovered, sadly, but I get the HRL out of cover. The HRL shoots with his assault pistol and the other Marauder flamethrowers. I roll a 20 and a 1 and my Bandit gets blown off the table. I failed you again, Bandit! With my last order, I shuffle the Haris around to guard for Van Zant, foolishly getting my chain rifle Jaguar too close to the Panzerfaust Jaguar, who is left out to ARO. I can see the remaining grunt sniper with the panzerfaust and manage to sneak a wound through, knocking him unconscious.

Bottom of Turn 1 – USARF

The bikes advance, with the light rocket launcher bike on the right putting a template on my two Jaguars. I break the Haris so I can ADHL the bike (probably dumb, should’ve dodged). The Panzerfaust jaguar goes dogged (passing my second ARM roll, thankfully), and the chain rifle Jag makes it out template range.

One of the bikes provides smoke for the Devil Dog, and it just rolls up the board, spec-firing smoke grenades as it goes. I elect to not take the free shot from my Intruder Lt as it jumps over a box, but maybe I should’ve. Anyway, the Devil Dog makes it all the way to the Brigada link, CCing down my MULTI Rifle Brigada, jumping an antipode up to the top of the building I’m on while doing so. I flamethrower the antipode off the table, but the MULTI Rifle Brigada goes down and the missile launcher Brigada takes a wound. The Devil Dog jumps up and chain rifles my Lieutenant, knocking him out, but I shave a wound off with the flamethrower in the process. Lupe whiffs her panzerfaust shot on this, and the Brigada ineffectually punches the Devil Dog.

The chain rifle bike rolls around the corner, blasting away. I fail a ton of rolls with the Jaguar Panzerfaust to shoot it or engage it, but everyone else manages to dodge all of the chain rifles. Finally it’s close enough for my chain rifle Jaguar to engage, and he makes it! Adam scoots his Grunts into total cover and with that, Adam’s out of orders.

Turn 2

Top of Turn 2 – Corregidor

Well this sucks. I’m in loss of lieutenant, but not out of the fight. I try to punch the Devil Dog off of me with the Mobile Brigada, and just end up going unconscious instead. Fine.

The Intruder HMG knocks out the Devil Dog, finally, and the Jaguar chain rifle knocks out the bike with some sweet kung fu moves. I figure I might as well get my classifieds, so I grab Data Scan off the Devil Dog’s unconscious body with the Mobile Brigada hacker.and the Jaguar curb-stomps the Desperado to get me Extreme Prejudice and gets set to make a dash towards the objective on the right.

Bottom of Turn 2 – USARF

The bikes advance again, with the left LRL bike KOing my Intruder. Sigh.
Lupe comes through for me though, and blasts the troublesome Maverick off the table with her trusty Panzerfaust dragon.Adam scoots a Foxtrot FO forward to shoot Massacre in the back, but Lupe crits the Foxtrot before he can do any more damage. Success!

Adam stops messing around and gets his Marauder Haris in position, grabbing the right objective and settling in to protect it. The leftmost Foxtrot does the same with the left objective, dropping a mine and scurrying away.

Turn 3

Top of Turn 3 – Corregidor

I have Lupe, the Jaguar, and a Mobile Brigada hacker left, putting me at a whopping 76 points and just out of retreat. The Jaguar is frenzied now, having taken out the Desperado, so he runs into the Comanche Barracks’ first floor and chain rifles the two Marauders that he can see. Adam breaks the link and dodges with the Paramedic, and shoots with the HRL, making the dodge, the BS attack, and the ARM save for the chain rifle. I manage to save my second ARM roll and go dogged, and attempt to chain rifle him again. Same result, with me failing ARM again.

I spend the last two orders and my Lt order on the Mobile Brigada hacker (who I nominated back in Turn 2). I run her out, kill the Foxtrot holding the box, tank the mine, and get set to cover that box.

Bottom of Turn 3 – USARF

Adam surprise-FOs my Mobile Brigada for a classified,ganks my Intruder HMG for another,and extends a hand. Well played, sir!

8-2 USARF Victory


  • 10 order lists are incredibly punishing.
    • You cannot correct for inefficient deployment (Intruder HMG should’ve started at the base of the stairs, ML brigada should’ve been left out to ARO things like the hoss she is).
    • Losing a few guys is really painful as you basically lose mobility.
    • Less room for tricks like HD and AD
    • Nomad tricks like Intruder + Smoke start to burn orders pretty quick. You’d better be really sure as to where you want that smoke, buddy!
    • Everyone needs to do stuff. You really lean on every piece of gear that stuff has.
    • I’m excited about spending more time playing with 10 orders. It’s very challenging and it’s going to improve my game a lot, I think.
  • Supplies at 300 with 10 orders and 3 specialists is quite difficult, especially against 4x Foxtrot FOs.
    • Lupe needed to be farther up, I needed to be more aggressive with the MB link.
    • Bandit is no longer a throwaway cruise missile, she’s definitely needed as a button pusher in this scenario. Kill what you need to to get in position, then get the job done and get out.
  • Mobile Brigada
    • Should’ve deployed the ML standing, in cover, ready to ARO everything.
    • Intruder Lt in an awkward position, should’ve used it to help counter USARF smoke.
    • MR “Lt” decoy worked, bought me an order or two.
    • MB’s aren’t totally useless in combat, you have a chance against things without Martial Arts.
    • I don’t think this game was particularly indicative of anything related to the Mobile Brigada, as they died pretty quick.
  • Intruders
    • This is probably my 3rd game with the HMG? Much more consistent than the MSR, so that was nice.
    • I had an opportunity to shoot the Devil Dog with my HMG from the elevated position that I didn’t notice till later in the game! It still would’ve been an uphill climb, but having a full 3-man MB link and a living Lt would’ve been nice.
    • I also had a shot on the Grunt LGL, which was Adam’s Lieutenant. I had surmised as much, but I had poked out to see the sniper without checking LoF on the Grunt LGL, so when I stood up from my auto-failed Guts roll I didn’t want to give him a free sniper shot. I suppose I could’ve split burst and hoped for the best.
    • Should’ve held the Intruder HMG in reserve and then responded to deployment. That requires smoke on both board edges though. Maybe put the Jaguar Haris in the center and then hold the HMG in reserve, using the Lt as a fake out.
    • Probably should’ve put the Intruder Lt off the roof, behind the boxes on the left of my deployment zone. That would’ve put me out of chain rifle range of the Devil Dog but let me shoot him as he came in.

  • Jaguar Haris
    • I am still a klutz with these guys. Need more table time with these guys.
    • Massacre’s eclipse smoke wasn’t relevant and was actually a detriment to me this game, but I really should’ve tried to get his breaker combi into the fight.
    • I need to watch my spacing and link team deployment. It changes drastically if I’m going first.
    • Losing the burst bonus by breaking the Haris was the wrong idea. I was out of good ADHL range I should’ve just dodged everyone on better numbers anyway. Alas, one too many beers… so that’s why Adam bought me a beer… HMMMMM…
  • Lupe
    • <3 Lupe.
    • She needed to be on the other side of the table if I wanted to bluff having 2 Intruder HMGs/MSRs.
    • She also needed to be further up the board if I wanted her to be more relevant.


I primarily play Infinity and Heavy Gear nowadays, but I dabble in plenty of other game systems.
